How do I open a checking or savings account?

You can open most accounts online in minutes at our account opening page. You'll need a valid government-issued ID, Social Security Number, and an initial deposit. You can also visit any branch to open an account in person.
What do I need to open an account?

You'll need: a valid government-issued photo ID (driver's license, passport, or state ID), your Social Security Number or ITIN, your date of birth, a U.S. residential address, and an initial deposit (amount varies by account type — some accounts have no minimum).
How do I set up direct deposit?

Share your Meridian routing number (021000089) and your account number with your employer's payroll department. You can find both in the mobile app under Account Details, in online banking, or at the bottom of your checks. Direct deposits typically start within 1–2 pay cycles.

How do I enroll in online banking?

Visit our enrollment page. You'll need your account number or debit card number, Social Security Number, date of birth, and an email address. The process takes about 5 minutes.
How do I reset my password?

Go to the forgot password page and enter your email or phone number. We'll send a verification code. After entering the code, you can create a new password.
How do I deposit a check with my phone?

Open the Meridian mobile app, tap "Deposit," select your account, enter the amount, then photograph the front and back of your check. Deposits are typically available within 1 business day.
How do I send money with Zelle®?

In the mobile app or online banking, select "Send Money with Zelle®." Enter the recipient's email or phone number and the amount. If they're enrolled with Zelle®, the money is typically available within minutes.
Cards & Payments
How do I report a lost or stolen card?

Call 1-800-MERIDIAN immediately. You can also lock your debit or credit card instantly through the mobile app — go to your card details and tap "Lock Card." A replacement will be mailed within 5–7 business days, or you can request expedited delivery.
How do I dispute a transaction?

Sign in to online banking, find the transaction, and select "Dispute." You can also call us or visit a branch. We'll investigate and typically provide a provisional credit within 10 business days while we review your claim.
How do I set up automatic bill pay?

In online banking, go to "Pay & Transfer" then "Bill Pay." Add your payee, enter the amount and frequency, and choose your payment account. You can set one-time or recurring payments.
Fees & Rates
How do I avoid monthly service fees?

Each account has different fee waiver options. For Total Checking, set up $500+ in qualifying direct deposits. For Premier Checking, maintain $15,000+ in combined balances. Student Checking has no monthly fee for ages 17–24. Visit our account comparison page for full details.
What are Meridian's wire transfer fees?

Domestic incoming wires: $25. Domestic outgoing: $30. International outgoing: $45. International incoming: $15. Premier Checking customers receive unlimited free wire transfers.

How does Meridian protect my accounts?

We use 256-bit SSL encryption, multi-factor authentication, real-time fraud monitoring, and automatic session timeouts. Your deposits are FDIC insured up to $250,000. Visit our Security Center for more details.

Call 1-800-MERIDIAN immediately. Lock your cards through the mobile app. Change your online banking password. We'll investigate and you're covered by our zero liability protection — you won't be responsible for unauthorized transactions when reported promptly.
